Arcserve Japan Announces New Immutable Storage to Protect Backup Data from Ransomware Attacks
Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage delivers tamper-proof protection for backup data, enabling a robust approach to disaster recovery and business continuity
TOKYO, JP – September 3, 2025 - Arcserve Japan, the pioneer in unified data resilience solutions, today announced the release of Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage, delivering a new lineup of data resilience solutions to strengthen ransomware countermeasures in the Japanese market.
Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage provides a reliable and cost-effective option for ransomware protection and compliance alignment by delivering immutable backup storage for cloud and on-premises workloads, seamlessly integrated with Arcserve UDP 10. Backup and restore operations can be performed using the UDP Console, the familiar integrated management interface in Arcserve UDP, enabling rapid restoration and business continuity.
At the same time, the latest version of Arcserve UDP 10.2 has been updated with features to further improve its integration with Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage. The official support for new features, including availability of Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage, will begin on September 3, 2025.
According to IPA, the threat of ransomware attacks on organizations has remained at a high level, ranking first for five consecutive years since 2021.1 Additionally, a survey by the National Police Agency reported that more than 70% of victim organizations that could not restore from backups had their backups encrypted.2 From the perspective of business continuity, further efforts to protect backup data are urgently needed.
In response to this trend, Arcserve Japan, the pioneer in unified data resilience solutions, now delivers features to further strengthen protection against backups tampering with the integration of Arcserve UDP 10.2 and Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage, supporting data protection and business continuity needs of organizations.
Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage Product Overview
Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage Series is available in two versions:
- Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage: Used in on-premises environments with high-capacity backup needs over LAN*. Seamlessly managed from Arcserve UDP.
*Customers need to acquire their own server hardware for Cyber Resilient Storage. - Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage: Stores immutable backups in cloud storage, seamlessly managed from Arcserve UDP. As a cloud-based solution, this allows ransomware countermeasures to be added to existing UDP recovery point servers without purchasing additional hardware.
Additionally, Arcserve Cloud Storage is now available for the Japanese market. It’s a dedicated non-immutable cloud storage solution with a global datacenter network, high availability, cost-saving data deduplication, and seamless integration with Arcserve products.
Arcserve Cyber Resilience Storage can also be utilized as secondary backup storage for Arcserve UDP 10000 Series Appliances.
Main Features of Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage
- Automated Immutable Snapshots: Automatically acquired and stored according to the specified schedule and storage period defined during datastore creation. Ransomware and other cyber attackers cannot change immutable snapshots, allowing data to be fully recovered.
- Simplified management using the integrated Arcserve UDP Console: Easily specify the storage location of the datastore, manage settings, and set snapshot schedules.
- Efficient use of storage space through continuous incremental backup, deduplication, and compression: Cyber Resilience Storage is used as the datastore for the Arcserve USP recovery point server*, enabling continuous incremental backup, deduplication, and compression by Arcserve UDP. This allows IT leaders to cost-effectively maintain multiple generations of backups, essential for ransomware countermeasures.
*Arcserve UDP 10.2 or higher Recovery Point Server (RPS) is required to use the Cyber Resilient Storage series of products.

Arcserve UDP 10.2 Product Overview
New Features
- Integration with Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage: Arcserve UDP can use Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage and Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage as data storage destinations. This enhances protection against ransomware and other threats by creating immutable snapshots of the entire datastore on-premises or in the cloud.
- Support for cloud storage management: Create and manage data stores that use Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Object Storage as destinations for the Arcserve UDP Recovery Point Servers. Arcserve UDP Premium Edition is required to use this feature.
Enhanced Features
- Improved Linux agent: New supported platforms include Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6, Oracle Enterprise Linux 9.6, Rocky Linux 9.6, AlmaLinux 9.6, Debian 12.9, 12.10, and Ubuntu 24.04 - 6.11 kernel support. Oracle Linux (OEL) releases 8.5 and later now fully support automatic driver integration with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK).
- Vulnerability Updates: Arcserve UDP 10.2 includes fixes for newly identified security vulnerabilities. Customers using Arcserve UDP are strongly recommended to upgrade to Arcserve UDP 10.2.
