With over 25 years of experience in data protection and Cyber Recovery, I play a key role in helping organizations across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands safeguard their critical data. I began my career in the 1990s with Computer Associates (Arcserve’s former parent company) as a global product specialist. After nearly two decades designing Cyber Recovery solutions outside of Arcserve, I returned in 2022 to join a revitalized, partner-led Arcserve-focused on empowering businesses of all sizes to build resilient recovery strategies.
Today, I work closely with Arcserve partners, managed service providers, and end customers to deliver tailored Cyber Recovery solutions. My expertise spans sales enablement, solution architecture, licensing, and best practice guidance ensuring every stakeholder is equipped to protect their data with confidence. Recent innovations like Arcserve UDP 10, which protects workloads across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, and Arcserve Cyber Resilient Storage, offering immutable backup targets both on-premises and in the cloud, reflect Arcserve’s commitment to modern, scalable protection.

Hi, I am Karl Thomson, based in Auckland and will be a familiar face to many who have come to our events in the past. I am taking a new role in 2025 as Director of Distribution Management and Strategy for APAC at Arcserve. With over 11 years of experience at Arcserve in presales, I am passionate about delivering innovative and reliable Business Continuity and Cyber Recovery solutions to IT and Data Security teams within businesses of all sizes who seek robust, scalable, and affordable data protection.
Arcserve has some great cyber recovery solutions with flexible licensing options from ShadowProtect SPX, Unified Data Protection (UDP), Replication & High Availability (RHA), new integrated Appliances, and SaaS Backup.
