Last month we announced expanded Windows, Linux and VMware support for CA Arcserve, underscoring our commitment to providing support of the latest operating systems and platforms across our data protection portfolio.

Today I have more great news, with CA Arcserve D2D r16.5 for Windows and CA Arcserve Central Applications r16.5 now supporting Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1.

This support is available for CA Arcserve D2D 16.5 with patch RO66936 (click to download), which means you can now protect:

  • Physical systems running Windows 2012 R2 using CA Arcserve D2D.
  • VMware vSphere systems running Windows 2012 R2 as guest OS via Agentless Backup.
  • Windows and non-Windows VMs running within a Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 R2 system, via crash-consistent backups.
  • Workstations running Windows 8.1.

And in addition to a number of other new features, you can also use Hyper-V 2012 R2 as a destination for near-instantaneous recovery of any physical or virtual system, as a VM.
