Information, such as motorbike configuration, is critical to the team. In the past, this data was only stored locally on engineers’ and mechanics’ laptops, therefore Yamaha Motor Racing was exposed to considerable risk. Learn why Yamaha chooses CA ARCserve to quickly recover data track-side without having to involve any IT resources.
Business: Yamaha Motor Racing manages the Yamaha racing team, which won the last three MotoGP world championships. Yamaha Motor Racing supports the team’s participation in MotoGP championships – the world’s premier motorcycle racing competition - as well as performing administrative and logistic functions.
Challenge: Downtime is not an option for Yamaha Motor Racing as it could result in heavy financial losses and also prevent the team from competing in a race. With important data, such as motorbike configurations, stored on local laptops, the company needed a recovery management process that could support the team in remote locations.
Solution: CA ARCserve D2D and CA ARCserve Replication have enabled Yamaha Motor Racing to establish an easy and rapid process for data protection and recovery. Data from 25 laptops is backed up to a server at the company offices, and then replicated to a server in a team truck at the racing venue.
Result: As well as safeguarding critical data, the CA Technologies solutions have enabled Yamaha Motor Racing to reduce backup times. An effective recovery management process will ensure IT problems don’t impact the team’s participation in MotoGP races and preserve the productivity of the engineers and mechanics working track-side.
